Comfort is the sweater that warms and fits just right. It's hot, creamy coffee in the mug from Mom. Comfort is mittens knit by hand from a soulmate, Anam Cara, stitches of love. It's the scarf from Bean brought round the world to my door.

It's so fitting that comfort is on our minds today. Mother's Day approaches and I am aware of the need.

Comfort is the hand wrapped gently around mine. It's found in the meeting of kind eyes across the room, a slow nod, understanding of what this day means for us both. Both longing for babes and families complete. It's the hug -- true embrace, clinging together -- from an old friend. We've come today broken and find hope; we aren't alone. Comfort is the good man kissing tears away. Disappointment forgotten as I remember I am so blessed.

Because some days aren't so easy. Because some seasons are just raw and pain and shear will to continue. Because there are graces of family, kindred spirits, sisters in the journey to name as gifts in the mess around. Because there is joy dancing all around.

Comfort is the sun heat on my skin. He is faithful and remembers us. Comfort is mercies showered like spring rain. It's not our strength but His. And it's grace flowing deep and wide, strong. We are not left to fend for ourselves.  Because He gives comfort enough to bear the road ahead. We only need to find it and name it. Joy.

  1. Hi Jenna. I love this depiction of comfort. It makes me feel all warm inside as I read. You cover so well (and in such a short time) the external and internal gifts that God graces us with. Thank you! Over here from Lisa-Jo's page for the first time. Lovely blog, my friend. God bless you :) x

  2. I love your post about those small simple moments that give us comfort and joy all at the same time. And I loved how you tied it altogether at the end in finding comfort our Lord, which is the best comfort to know.
