Today's prompt: Song

GO

Birds are singing their early morning tunes. Hundreds of calls and notes and songs sung again and again from the trees. I reluctantly give way to the day, grumbling and slowly making my way through the house. I long to return to that perfect place of dreamy comfort that comes with the morning bed. But I am up. The birds are unrelenting. And loud.

Joyful, unashamed, without fail, they cannot help themselves. Created to sing so they sing.

And as the fog of sleep clears out of my head and the sun starts streaming through the windows, I remember how blessed we are for another day, both second chance and new beginning. And I want to be like the birds. Singing glories, unrelenting. without fail.

I want to sing these songs of morning graces, early praises to the One who keeps the sun shining and the earth turning and the birds flying and the trees growing and His people breathing. To wake in perfect song, without fail, singing loud and unashamed before the light, joyful for another day. To wake and sing out thanks for sweet mercies and small gifts that sustain.

Created to sing so I sing.

And maybe all of life is a song and I've got to just sing the notes He gives, loud and without fail, because I believe it. Because He is worthy. Because I was created to sing.

STOP
.     .     .     .     .

TODAY IS THE DAY THE LORD HAS MADE
I WILL SING FOR JOY
AND BE GLAD IN IT.

  5. Amen. Beautiful post. I've been noticing the birds more than usual -- I don't think it's them, I think it's me. My thoughts have not been far from what you've posted. So that makes your post extra-special. I can't imagine life w/o the birds signing ... but more than that? w/o God's song in my heart.

    Thanks, Jenn

  6. That was really meaningful. I love that what the birds do is what God created them for. I will definitely be remembering this every time I hear the birds and will be reminded of what God has called and created me for.
