Even nature sings. There is something so magical, so whimsical as sitting on the dock on a quiet, breezy day. If I close my eyes and am very quiet I can almost hear the trees singing, the wind blowing harmonies through the air, the grass chiming in...such a beautiful performance. What a privilege and honor to behold!
Let the rivers clap their hands,
let the mountains sing together for joy;
Psalm 98:8
The birds of the sky nest by the waters;
they sing among the branches
Psalm 104:12
Let the trees of the forest sing,
let them sing for joy before the Lord…
1 Chronicles 16:33
And when I am alone, with my husband, in church with others, in class with friends, with family...I am reminded of the goodness of God, his love and mercy. I am filled with joy, my heart overflows with singing, so quiet and bold no one can here on earth.
I will sing to the Lord all my life;
I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.
Psalm 104:33
They celebrate your abundant goodness
and joyfully sing of your righteousness.
Psalm 145:7
And when I am overwhelmed with what lies ahead, with the struggles of my life, with the enemies that so closely surround...I sing for I know my Jesus has already won the victory; for he is faithful.
The Lord is my strength and my shield;
my heart trusts in him and he helps me. my heart leaps for joy,
and with my song I praise him.
Psalm 28:7
And I know that this one is mainly about God's love for Israel, God's restoration of Israel. I know this but I also know that God saw us, those barren women in the world. And he chose to speak to us. He knew that we would need permission to sing, that we would need a reason to sing, that we would so desperately want to sing...
Sing, barren woman, you who never bore a child;
burst into song, shout for joy, you who were never in labor;
because more are the children of the desolate woman
than of her who has a husband
Isaiah 54:1
There are many songs that I have been meaningful to me in my life and my journey. And, like the "adventures" posts, I will write about a specific song that has had an impact on my life. Feel free to share some of yours too!
